What a year!

What a year 2010 has been... Seeing the very hectic beginning of our boutique has been a lifelong dream come true for me and it still feels like a dream!! To everyone who helped make this happen and was there to see our doors open - family, friends, local businesses and of course our amazing customers - a heartfelt thank you.

We hope 2011 will bring lots of exciting things our way and that the boutique will continue to bring happiness to lots of lovely brides!

This month we will be receiving a brand new collection from Parisian designer Ugo Zaldi, which we are very excited about! We are also busy planning what will hopefully be a fabulous Wedding Advice and Pamper Evening so don't forget to email us for your FREE tickets!

Have a fun night, keep safe and we will see you in 2011.

Lots of love,

The new W.I.F.E.

This week Hitched.co.uk launched Hitched’s W.I.F.E. (Wedding Industry Figures and Economic); A new website created to share data about the UK wedding market.

Managing Director Dean Yardley had this to say about the new concept: “Weddings are very much a feature of our lives and apart from an annual count from the Office of National Statistics, there is very limited information on this important ceremony. Hitched’s W.I.F.E will offer a more detailed view of weddings, giving both quantative statistics and qualitative evidence across a considerable range of wedding issues and decisions. We wanted to create this site so that the industry and its customers could access the information freely and easily.”

So...what is the point? Well, if nothing else it can act as reassurance to your husband-to-be that you're not the only couple blowing the budget, with research showing that  3% less people are planning to stick to their wedding budget!!

Or...find out where the top honeymoon spots are! For the second year running, America is the most popular honeymoon destination. Places like the Caribbean and South America are popular destinations as 22% of Hitched viewers suggested:

We also think it's pretty reassuring to know what not all brides walking down the aisle are a size 0, with more brides being size 20+ than a UK size 6...so relax and step away from the diet shake!!

Make sure to have your say in the statistics by taking part in hitched.co.uk's daily polls and surveys!

Do Me A Favour...

Wedding favours are a long-standing tradition in many different cultures, regarded as an offering of thanks. The earliest records of such gifts date to various European countries in the 16th to 18th centuries.

But it was not only what was in the box that was expensive. Sugar cubes and confectionery were usually presented in a "bonbonniere," a small box made of precious crystal, gemstones, or porcelain. It was a sign of wealth and privilege to give the guests of your wedding a gift or favour for attending.

Once sugar became less rare, the masses took up the custom of providing wedding favors for their guests following the original tradition. Later, almonds were used in place of the confections, which was said to symbolise the gifts of fertility, longevity, wealth, health and happiness wished on the bride and groom in their new married life. Around the 13th century, confetti or sugar coated almonds were introduced combining the two traditions of almonds and sugar into a single gift.

Nowadays, wedding favours can be just another item of the shopping list when it comes to your wedding. But the good news is... the days of sugared almonds (that, let's face - who really likes?!?) are over! Now favours can be anything you like - and becoming more and more popular are keepsakes and useful gifts that your guests will love and cherish long after your special day!

Take a look at our TOP 5 amazing favours to wow your guests - these and many more available in unlimited quantities for sale in our Adamo Facebook Shop.

New items are being added daily so make sure to check it out!

Our Groovy Photographer Friends!

I've loved photography since I was little, but despite my best efforts I could never produce anything without blur, missing foreheads and fingers over the lens! Thank goodness for the experts.... Craig and Kate from Craig Williams Photography based in Colchester saved the day and popped in to take some a-ma-zing shots of our boutique. See how the pictures turned out below...

We love their work and they're super nice too!! Check out their website Craig Williams Photography and make sure you watch the video to see what they're all about.

See... photographers aren't so scary after all!!

Lots of love,

The FAB Show!

Welcome to our very first blog... how exciting!!

Having only been open for a week we were thrilled to be approached by the lovely Essex Event Organiser Nicki Evans to be involved in The FAB Show on 5th December due to someone having to drop out at the last minute!

Nicki brought along Celeb Stylist Joey Bevan and some lovely models to try on our dresses just 5 days before the show.... but it was meant to be! The girls looked amazing and each had their own individual style which was represented by our dresses so well.

Have a peek at the catwalk shots.... I'm particularly loving our "alternative bride"!! Nice tattoos and Lady Gaga style bow hair! ;-)

Thank you to everyone who was involved - we had a FAB night!

Lots of love,

Lauren at Adamo... x
